While we have shut the door on another ‘odd’ year, Visit Lauderdale ended the year on a high note with the final week of the year when we posted the highest weekly occupancy since mid-April 2021; the highest weekly ADR and RevPAR ever recorded; and December 31st marked the most rooms sold (33,276) on a single day. Looking back, business was still soft in Q1, and the recovery was off to a slow start. Q2 and Q3 picked up the pace and made for a memorable spring/summer. The Delta and Omicron variants slowed the recovery process in Q4 by shaking consumer confidence, but visitors were a little less deterred in December. Forecasters have dialed back the 2022 forecast a bit but American traveler sentiment continues to show nearly 90% are planning to travel in the next six months and beaches/warm destinations continue to be the most desirable destinations. We are poised with open arms, to welcome “everyone under the sun” in 2022.
