This Rosé Event In Fort Lauderdale Will Make You Forget It’s Winter

With snowstorms happening across the U.S., you’re probably ready to flee the cold weather right about now. Why not take a last-minute getaway to Fort Lauderdale this weekend?

In addition to offering the famous Florida sunshine and warmth you’re craving, the city is hosting the Seaglass Rosé Experience, giving you the chance to taste dozens of rosé varietals from around the world. With a glass of the summery wine in hand, you might forget winter even exists.

“Seaglass captures the essence of Greater Fort Lauderdale with its irresistible feet-in-the-sand, rosé-in-hand vibe,” Stacy Ritter, president and CEO of Visit Lauderdale, said in a press release. “It provides a wonderful opportunity for visitors to meet and mingle with members of our very diverse and eclectic local community.”

Here’s what to expect at this weekend’s Seaglass Rosé Experience and why it’s worth a quick trip to Fort Lauderdale.

What’s the Seaglass Rosé Experience?

The Seaglass Rosé Experience is a celebration of rosé wine taking place Jan. 21-23, 2022, on the sands of Fort Lauderdale Beach in Florida. Presented by the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort, the multi-day event will feature more than 30 kinds of rosé, including La Fête du Rosé, Hampton Water, LaMarca Rosé, Notorious Pink, and Wölffer Estate Rosé—just to name a few.

The event has invited some of Florida’s top chefs to create dishes to pair with the wines. Chef Paula DaSilva, executive chef at the Ritz Carlton Fort Lauderdale and former contestant on “Hell’s Kitchen” with Gordon Ramsay, is planning to whip up a homemade porchetta toast with goat cheese brûlée and blood orange jam. Chef Taek Lee, executive chef at Takato restaurant and the Conrad Fort Lauderdale Beach, will serve salmon tataki with truffle ponzu.

Other chefs participating in Seaglass include Steven Martorano, the self-proclaimed “Godfather of Italian-American cooking”; five-time James Beard award semifinalist José Mendín; Nicole Rhone, the executive chef at Hilton Fort Lauderdale beach Resort; and Belkys Nerey, news anchor at Miami’s WSVN-7 and host of the “Bite With Belkys” cooking segment.

All weekend long, international DJ Anna de Ferran will spin house music that will help you keep the energy up in spite of all that rosé. You can also hear performances from The Collektives, a local band known for covering cult classics like “Creep” and “Zombie,” on Saturday, Jan. 21. The following day, Yacht Rock Revue will showcase their trademarked “yacht rock” sound that will instantly put you in vacation mode.

Giving back with a glass in hand

As if the crisp rosé and delectable bites wasn’t enough of a reason to head to Seaglass, you can also feel good knowing that you’re supporting a worthwhile cause: the fight against cancer. Seaglass is donating proceeds from the event to AutoNation’s DRV PNK initiative, which aims to increase awareness of cancer and support critical medical research. The organization has raised $30 million and counting.

What’s more, Seaglass has also implemented sustainability measures to ensure this weekend’s event is gentle on the planet. It prohibits plastic on the beach and is dedicated to using only reusable and recyclable materials.

You can buy tickets to this weekend’s Seaglass event for as little as $99.

Other upcoming Seaglass events

Can’t make it to Seaglass this weekend? The Fort Lauderdale event won’t be your only opportunity to immerse yourself in the boozy pink paradise. The organizers already have an event in the Bahamas in the works, scheduled to take place in mid-June. And rumor has it that there may be a Seaglass event happening in the Hamptons later this year—stay tuned for more details.
