Congratulations to former Sr. VP of Administration, Anthony "Tony" Cordo, on his promotion to Executive Vice President of Visit Lauderdale.  We are thrilled for Tony and look forward to working with him in his new role.

We are proud to welcome Neki Mohan and Ava Rivera to the Visit Lauderdale team!

Neki joins as the new Vice President of Multicultural Business and Community Engagement. She is a long time resident of Broward County and comes with over three decades of experience as a journalist, most recently as morning anchor of the South Florida ABC station WPLG-TV. 

Ava joins as the Global Trade Development Coordinator. She was most recently a Groups Team Lead at Royal Caribbean Cruise, Ltd. and had been with RCC since 2016. She is a graduate of the University of North Florida in Jacksonville with a degree in communications.

SPORTS DEVELOPMENT & ENTERTAINMENT

Greater Fort Lauderdale hosted 10 high school football teams at DRV Pink Stadium for the FHSAA High School Football Championship. 

Over 1,000 wrestlers participated in the Citrus Invitational Sunshine Games for Highschool and Division III College Championship at the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center.

ASTA South Florida held their Winter Affair at the recently opened AC by Marriott Fort Lauderdale Airport.  Over forty local advisors were in attendance, spreading some holiday cheer!

The Global Trade Team participated in the 2022 Travel Preview, Virtual Travel & Adventure Show on December 15th where we had several hundred virtual booth visits.

Tracy Vaughan and Paul Mason returned from their Canada Sales Mission where they met many of our travel partners.


While in Montreal/Toronto the team met with Air Canada, Air Canada Vacations, Air Transat, Westjet, and Canada Airlines, in addition to the media outlets, Travel Week, Travel Industry Today, and Baxter.

FILM PERMITS

There were over 50 film permits processed in December. *

*BIG NEWS: As of December 23rd, the processing of film permits has transferred to Broward County's Office of Economic & Small Business Development and will be overseen by the County's new Film Commissioner.
