Florida Governor's Conference on Tourism

Visit Lauderdale hosted and sponsored this annual event at The Diplomat Beach Resort, Curio Collection by Hilton. This industry event brings Florida tourism professionals together to explore the latest trends and opportunities. The best of the best tourism marketing in Florida is recognized at the event through the Flagler Award competition and we were honored to bring home an award in the Tourism Advocacy category for the reveal of our new brand.

Connect Marketplace in Tampa. Visit Lauderdale had over 60 one-on-one appointments with clients and uncovered 10 new leads for Fort Lauderdale.  Heather Miller, Mike Sophia and Agnes Zaranski  

Liz and Heather hosted 27 clients for a golf clinic at The Glen Club in Glenview, IL. This was a great outdoor networking event and wonderful opportunity to discuss Greater Fort Lauderdale.   

The Visit Lauderdale team hosted meeting planners at the recently held ASAE Pop-Up event in August. As part of the agenda, there was a turtle conservation and beach nourishment presentation by Broward County’s Stephanie Kedzuf, Natural Resources Specialist.

SPORTS DEVELOPMENT

Recent Activities Include:

  • Sep 9-10, Saskia had a site visit with the FL State Bowling Association Board members for two events next year, both at Strikers Bowling Center, which will take place over the course of 4-6 weekends in May and November 2022.

GLOBAL TRADE DEVELOPMENT

August Activities:

Aug 15-18, Tracy attended US Travel’s Educational Seminars Tourism Offices (ESTO) in Los Angeles. It offered a great opportunity to network and learn from our destination marketing peers from throughout the USA.

Aug. 23-26, Caitlan attended the American Society of Travel Advisor’s Global Conference in Chicago with over 800 travel advisors in attendance. We had a booth for the trade show and participated with the Chapter Connections with our local South Florida chapter.

Aug. 30-31, Caitlan participated in the virtual component of ASTA Global Convention for those who could not attend in Chicago. Visit Lauderdale had a virtual booth with downloads available.

Our partnership with Virtuoso continued and we were featured in the Virtuoso Life Magazine during Travel Week in Las Vegas, and we hosted a 30-minute webinar on “24 Reasons Why to Choose Greater Fort Lauderdale.” 

September Activities:

Sept. 13-17, Attended the Virtual Family Vacations Roadshow with a virtual booth and 30 appointments with North American advisors. 

Sept. 14, The Global Trade team presented a virtual destination update for Sales partners via Zoom.  If you missed it, catch the recording here and view our upcoming show/travel schedule for partnership opportunities.

Sept. 19-22, Tracy and Paul will attended US Travel’s IPW in Las Vegas with over 75 appointments scheduled with international and domestic buyers over the three-day event. This will be the first in-person event with international buyers since March 2020.
