Fort Lauderdale and Bermuda are, of course, each renown for their beautiful waters. While Fort Lauderdale additionally holds the title of Yachting Capital of The World, Bermuda has caught on in more recent years with superyacht owners and guests. Typically, regions so close in terms of visitor draw and especially proximity consider each other competitors. However, Visit Lauderdale (a.k.a. the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau) and the Bermuda Tourism Authority think differently. In fact, they’ve paired their nautical strengths for a new tourism campaign, called Go Where the Yachts Go.
In this episode of the Megayacht News Radio podcast series, Diane M. Byrne speaks with Stacy Ritter of Visit Lauderdale (above left) and Douglas Trueblood of the Bermuda Tourism Authority (above right). The two explain why they’ve joined forces for Go Where the Yachts Go. Of note, for instance, their respective high seasons actually complement one another.
Furthermore, they each shed light on:
- what their destinations offer that other locales don’t
- why Fort Lauderdale also has the nickname Venice of America
- how Go Where the Yachts Go highlights the great strides that Bermuda particularly has made in terms of becoming more charter-friendly
- how Go Where the Yachts Go will have a presence at boat show—including a big party during the upcoming Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.
